We just finished our webinar "Are You LinkedIn?" and discussed ideas on how to improve the LinkedIn profile.

Here is the summary of the webinar for those who missed it:

1. Make sure your profile is complete. All sections. Sit down and work on it and do not get up until it is done. Do it once and keep it up to date over time.

2. Generate content on your favorite topics, and be consistent. Make sure that give credit to others if you will be using or citing their work. The new formula for content: Authenticity > Quality > Quantity

3. Add connections, and send invites to connect, but remember to be kind and polite, respecting other's space. Also, be aware of LinkedIn's 100 connection invites per week limit. Use this feature responsibly.

4. Engage with your followers and the ones you follow: comment, share, reshare, tag others, and reply to comments. Never engage in a negative dialogue. Say something nice or say nothing. This is my approach, and feel free to take it with a grain of salt.

5. Write for others, and ask for recommendations from your connections who have worked with you or know you. Be generous to write a recommendation for the individuals who worked with you or you have known them in a professional role.
